Rina Katahira To Make Major Label Debut In August



21-year-old singer-songwriter Rina Katahira announced at her debut live in Tokyo that her first major label single, titled "Natsu no Yo", will be released on August 7th.

Katahira was a singer who had her start performing in the Fukushima area where she grew up. In 2011, she entered a rock festival's competition, "Senkou Riot 2011", winning the Jury's Special Award and capturing the attention of music executives.

The singer became the first artist to join Sony's "Play You. Label", a special marketing campaign for the Sony Walkman brand. On February 10th, 2013, Katahira announced that she was joining the music label PONY CANYON to make her major label debut.

Katahira's upcoming single is a medium-tempo ballad written when she was 18-years-old. Further details will be released at a later date.

In related news, Katahira will be given support and instruments from famous guitar brand Epiphone. She is the first Japanese women to receive their support and joins the ranks of artists such as John Lennon.

May'n Announces 8th Single "ViViD"



May'n will be releasing her 8th single, titled "ViViD", on July 24th.

The upcoming single has been chosen to be the opening theme song for the new anime series "Blood Lad". The series is set to begin airing in July.

May'n's upcoming single was written by Shoko Fujibayashi, composed by Hiroyuki Akita and arranged by CHOKKAKU. It will be available in a CD-Only and CD+DVD version. Release details will be revealed at a later date.

In related news, May'n is currently touring Japan as part of an acoustic tour. The tour started on May 12th and runs through June 8th, featuring stops in 8 different cities.

Reina Tanaka Holds Last Performance With Morning Musume



Reina Tanaka, long known to be graduating from Morning Musume, held her last performance with the group and is officially no longer one of its members.

Morning Musume performed at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo to a packed house. The group performed 27 songs, followed by Tanaka's graduation ceremony. One by one, the group members presented Tanaka with flowers. Tanaka and the group's leader, Michishige Sayumi, talked about the future and hugged on stage.

During the group's encore performance, the stadium was cast in a light blue light, the image color of Tanaka. The audience joined in spectacle, holding up light blue glow sticks and shouting "Reina!" in support of the idol.

Tanaka may be leaving Morning Musume, but she will remain an active artist. The idol formed an all-girl band LoVendoЯ and will be promoting with them. The band released their first mini album on May 22.

Tanaka joined Morning Musume in 2003 as a 6th generation member. Sayumi Michishige joined the group at the same time as Tanaka and becomes the only group member to have joined before 2011.

Tohoshinki Releases "OCEAN" Short PV

Just in time for summer, group Tohoshinki has released their new short PV for the Japanese single "OCEAN."

The single will be released in both a regular and limited edition. Both versions feature the track "Wedding Dress." The limited edition will come with a bonus DVD featuring the lead track's PV and a documentary with behind the scenes footage of the music video. The regular edition will feature a remix of "OCEAN," along with a making-of for the cover's photo shoot. Limited first pressings will also feature a 12-page booklet. One of six special fan cards will come with purchase of the single.

The new single will be released June 12th!

I like certain ballads I don't have a genre I generally dislike in terms of k/j-pop besides male stuff

But that song is not my cup of tea ^^

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu Announces 2nd Album "Nanda Collection"



Kyary Pamyu Pamyu will be releasing her 2nd studio album, "Nanda Collection", on June 26th.

The title of Kyary's upcoming album is a play of words. The title in Japanese, "なんだこれくしょん" (romanized as Nanda Kore Ku Shon), comes from combining "nanda kore", meaning "What in the world is this?", and "kore ku shon", which means "collection".

The new album will come with 12 tracks, including previously released singles such as "Fashion Monster" and her latest single "Invader Invader".

"Nanda Collection" will come in a regular edition and first press limited edition. The limited edition version comes with a bonus photo book and a DVD that contains 4 music videos, while the regular edition will only contain a CD of the album.

"My second album is finally being release! It would make me happy if you guys went 'What in the world!?' when you see the limited edition cover! This album has includes all sorts of genres, from the rock song 'Fashion Monster', to the alien sounds of 'Invader', so please look forward to it! This definitely won't be a disappointing album. I want everyone to listen to it," Kyary commented.

"Chu Ni Byo Demo Koi ga Shitai" Gets Second Season



After releasing the pv for "Free!" 2 weeks ago, Kyoto Animation has made another announcement that brought delight to many fans. The popular anime, Chu Ni Byo Demo Koi ga Shitai (a.k.a Chuni Byo) has gotten the go-ahead for the production of a second season, Chu-2 byo demo Koi ga Shitai!

No further details was reported in Kadokawa Shoten's Newtype magazine, however, the news of a second season alone, has excited many fans of the series.

Luna Sea's New Song Featured in android/iphone GAME "Master of Chaos"

A new song by Luna Sea has been in part unveiled through a trailer for the iphone [app.] game "Master of Chaos" which was revealed on T.V. Wednesday, May 22nd in Japan.

“MASTER OF CHAOS” is introduced with the narration by popular voice actor Akio Otsuka, picking dynamic scenes from the actual game screen. The game itself is a dungeon type of action RPG. The player becomes a hero to save the world of darkness, and is engaged in a adventure full of demons.

SID to Release New Single “summer lover”



Japanese Band SID announced the release of a new single for July!

Yesterday, on May 23rd, SID performed together with Flumpool and Weaver at “Music Matters 2013” in Singapore. Still abroad they announced the release of a brand new single! “Summer lover” is the title of their new release that already reveals the topic of the song: Summer!

The single will drop on July 24th and comes in three versions: Limited Edition Type A and B will cost 1700 Yen each and come with CD and DVD, the Regular Edition is CD-only and costs 1250 Yen.

LECCA LIVE 2013 DVD and Blu-ray Release "ZOOLANDER"



Jamaican inspired, Japanese reggae-rapper-hiphop dancehall singer-songwriter LECCA, will release her "LIVE 2013 ZOOLANDER" on DVD and Blu-ray on 2013.07.17 with 22 tracks at a cost of 4,800yen (5,040yen Tax incl.)US$ 46.38 and is available to purchase here.

Also offered with this release is a LIVE CD from this tour titled "EXTRA INNINGS" which includes tracks M1.I wish(acoustic version)　M2.too BAD, too FAKE.

B.A.P To Make Japanese Debut This Fall



B.A.P will be making their Japanese debut sometime this fall, the group announced.

B.A.P was in Japan this weekend for their sold out concert series "B.A.P LIVE ON EARTH JAPAN", marking their first time performing in Japan. The group held a press conference on May 25th where they announced their plans to break into the Japanese market.

"It's so surreal to us. We're happy we can fulfill our dream of making our debut in Japan and want to share our music with you as soon as possible. Please look forward to our debut song," the group told reporters.

For their Japanese debut, B.A.P will be working with King Records, the agency of artists such as Momoiro Clover Z, Nana Mizuki, Megumi Hayashibara and Matenrou Opera. They are one of the largest Japanese labels not owned by a multinational company.

"Our musicality comes first, followed by our performances and masculine charms. We're inspired by all genres of music and would like to perform our self-created songs," group leader Bang Yong Guk shared.

In addition to their Japanese debut, the group plans on holdings a large-scale domestic tour.
